Types of self-esteem What is yours
Taking into account the types of self-esteem could be a very important factor if we want to achieve our well-being.

It is also the key to relate to the environment that surrounds us in a positive and healthy way. However, and despite this, we are not all equal and there are different types of self-esteem.

Today we are going to see that there are three types of self-esteem that can define us as people.

This does not mean that our self-esteem only belongs to one of these categories, in fact, we all know that sometimes we are more euphoric, while at other times we feel more depressed.

Everything depends on what happens at that precise moment of our lives.

However, you can know what is the type of self-esteem that predominates in you. Which one occurs more frequently?

When our self-esteem is higher, we suffer less stress and we can control anxiety easily, the failures we experience are less harmful and we recover from painful experiences more quickly.

The types of self-esteem

After decades of research on what is self-esteem, there are some points on which most psychologists seem to agree.

The definition can basically be summarized in one of the three types of standard self-esteem based on competence, reputation, and the combination of competence and reputation.

Inflated self-esteem

People who have an "inflated self-esteem" think they are better than others, and undoubtedly are those who underestimate everything around them. Self-esteem is very negative, since it avoids the issue of establishing loving and healthy relationships.

Competitiveness is always there and constantly wants to be above. For these people, happiness is about achieving success, but in reality you can not be happy with this attitude.

People with inflated self-esteem stand out because they are unable to listen to others and be self-critical.

They are not able to correct their mistakes and, therefore, always blame others. In addition, they often despise others who adopt hostile behavior towards them.

For these people it is very difficult to establish healthy relationships with others because they always see them as competition.

However, keep in mind that it is not a false self-esteem! Perhaps behind the desire to always be the best, there is a very insecure person, with many fears that have led him to show himself as someone he is not.

If a person with high self-esteem is very superficial and materialistic, it is probably because he has a false increase in self-esteem.

High self-esteem

People who possess this type of self-esteem accept and value themselves. Self-esteem is considered positive because in this way the subject is satisfied with his life. Does this imply that there will be no obstacles to overcome again? Of course not, but the self-confidence and courage to face any problem will make it easier.

"People with high self-esteem do not try to prove their worth by competing against a comparison standard.

Their joy is to be what they are, not to be better than someone else.

Believing in themselves and having confidence is what distinguishes those who possess this type of self-esteem. However, that does not make them arrogant or that they feel superior with respect to others.

It is enough to have the necessary security to prevent circumstances and adverse events from knocking you down.

However, within this high self-esteem, there are people who are destabilized. This means that they are not able to maintain a high self-esteem in a constant way.

What distinguishes these people who suffer from recurrent insecurity? Being aggressive or passive, not wanting to have other points of view, in short, what happens especially in competitive contexts in which insecurity becomes impossible to deal with.

Low self-esteem

People with low self-esteem are the opposite of those with high self-esteem. They do not emphasize, they do not trust their abilities and they feel insecure almost every time.

The fear of failure is something that obsesses them and blocks them. They are the perfect example of unhappy people. "The need to speak ill of others indicates low self-esteem. That is, "they feel so unimportant that they prefer to try to make the rest worse instead of improving themselves"
